Concussions

"Heads-Up" videos from NATA website about tackling technique and how it can lead to concussions or even worse, catastrophic spine/brain injuries. Following are other various videos that have to do with concussion.

These videos are eye opening, because as I recall my entire football career i replay hits I have made and I am very grateful I never suffered injuries. All contact marks on my helmet are on the one place you don't want them, on the crest of the helmet. It is very scary when you think what could have been.

Concussions have been a very hot topic in recent years and the NATA has brought awareness to what has become a rising occurrence due to increased participation in athletics and willingness of athletes to report symptoms because of the knowledge that is out there on the seriousness of concussions. The following link is to position statements made available by the NATA:  NATA concussion statements

Here is a PSA I found that I liked:

This first video was made by ESPN Outside the Lines, where they note that Traumatic Brain Injuries are now being recognized as a causative factor for accelerated hormonal deficiencies.

This next video is from a playoff game between the Boston Celtics and the Orlando Magic where Celtics forward Glen Davis receives an elbow to the head and then hits his head on the floor, suffering a concussion. Here it is evident of the immediate effects of a concussion.

In this final video, Dr. David Samadi discusses sports related concussions in children, mechanism of concussion and a possible quick test that can diagnose concussions

I know there are thousands of concussion videos out there, but these where just a few quick ones that were descriptive and got the point across.
